Please note the following instructions to use FriendCaller optimally:



Where can I find the Audio settings?

Click on the Start button and select Control Panel in the Start menu





The window Control Panel will appear.
In the window Control Panel, look for the section Hardware and Sound and click on it.





The window Hardware and Sound will appear.
Look for item Sound and click on it.





Note: If your Control Panel is in Classic View, please double click the item Sound directly.





How do I change the playback options?

Open the window Sound and click on Playback tab.





Click on the used playback device

1. It should have a green check beside it. If it doesn't, please click on the button „Set Default“ to set it as your default.
2. Click on the button „Properties.“ The window Speakers Properties will appear. Please check the device usage and ensure that „Use this device (enable)“ is selected in the dropdown menu.





3. Now click on the tab Levels.





4. Check that the Speakers volume is high enough and ensure that it is not muted.

5. Please ensure that the microphone volume is muted.

6. Click on the Button „Apply“ and „OK“ to close the window.


How do I change the recording options?

Select the Recording tab in the Sound window.





Click on the used recording device.

1. It should have a green check beside. If it doesn't, please click on the button „Set Default“ to set it as your default.

2. Click on the button „Properties.“ The window Microphone Properties will appear. Please check the device usage and ensure that „Use this device (enable)“ is selected in the dropdown menu.





3. Select the Custom tab in the Microphone properties window and make sure that there is NO check on the „Microphone Boost“ box. To un-check, simply click on the Microphone Boost box.





4. Now switch to the Levels tab.





5. Check that Microphone volume is set to maximum.

6. Click on the Button „Apply“ and „OK“ to close the window.


How do I check the Sound preferences?

To check your Sound preferences, please make a test call on FriendCaller.

To use the Test Call function:
Login with your FriendCaller user ID. On the green Call-bar click on the symbol to start the test call. Follow the instructions of the test call. If you can hear your own voice, your audio and sound preferences are correctly set.
