Guide / Audio Set - Up

Please note the following instructions to use FriendCaller optimally:

FriendCaller does not require any software installation or configuration as long as you have your Java VM updated. Visit www.java.com to find out more about Java and free Java updates.

Where can I find the Audio settings in FriendCaller?

In case you encounter any problems with sound and audio, we recommend to use the Test Call and Sound Check functions to check your audio set-up:

The Sound Check and Test Call features are conveniently located on the call bar.

Test Call:

To test your sound and audio settings, use the FriendCaller test call feature:

Here you can record a short message that is played back to you right after recording. The Test Call allows you to test anytime if your speakers and/or, headset or microphone are working properly.

Usually, there are no audio settings required: FriendCaller auto senses the system’s audio environment and selects the audio hardware based on your system’s audio settings and preferences.

How do I change the Audio settings in FriendCaller?

Sound Check

One of the most common problems is a muted microphone and/or speakers. You can use the Sound Check feature to check the audio setting directly from FriendCaller:

Please make sure that your microphone and speakers are not muted and that the sound levels are at least at 50%.

Here you can manually select the audio input/output you would like to use with FriendCaller in case your system has multiple audio systems installed.

In case FriendCaller detects multiple audio or sound systems (e.g a built-in Microphone, a USB headset or a Bluetooth hands-free earphone) it will select the system used by FriendCaller based on your system's audio and sound settings/preferences. You can correct these settings, if required, directly through the Sound Check feature:

You will see a small pop-up window on your desktop screen called Audio Settings. Select Speaker or Microphone to see your installed audio and sound systems in the “Audio Device” selection. Please select the one you like to use for FriendCaller and make sure that the level it at least 50%.
